| Description | The Arts Section facilitates many local arts networks such as the Arts Forum and the Arts Exchange. They also assist the voluntary sector, local artists and colleagues with funding advice, organising and enabling community arts projects throughout the year as well as administering an annual awards' ceremony for Youth Arts projects. They can also put you in touch with other Council and voluntary sector colleagues who deal with arts. The Council plays a key role in promoting local arts events. What's On in Wigan is a bi-monthly guide listing events and activities locally. To be included in the guide or to receive a copy contact Elizabeth House on 01942 486935. At the Turnpike Gallery the Visual Arts Officer is responsible for the management of exhibitions, learning and outreach, including supporting professional and amateur artists and developing participatory projects across the borough with a variety of organisations and individuals.
